Used to eliminate any dust dirt or moisture from entering your loft space our breathable roofing membrane can be installed directly into the either the internal or external roof slopes shielding both insulation and roof structure. Good construction practice requires a vapour barrier to be fitted on the warm side of the insulation to stop warm moist air from inside the house permeating through the ceilings to the cold loft. Water vapour can pass through most building materials and will enter the roof space through the plasterboard ceilings.

The loft space should have adequate ventilation to prevent the build up of moisture to an unacceptable level. Take a measuring device tape measure or a laser measure and measure the rafter area this can be done by measuring from the apex of the roof down to where the sloping roof meets the horizontal joists and multiplying by the breadth of the roof. Unfortunately placing boxes and possessions in the loft can disrupt the airflow and render the vents useless. Hot water tanks releasing steam and moist air into the loft or roof space.

Open all your window vents and make sure you get the extractor fan going to help reduce condensation if you must dry washing indoors open the windows a little. Steam from activities such as bathing and cooking combining with a lack of general ventilation to create excessive moisture rising into the loft.
